All Dream Together

We What Have We done in this modern age?
We're no closer to peace than we were yesterday
What have we done in this modern age
We're no closer to peace than we were yestersday
They say our taxes go to building more bombs
If we spent it on food, we would all get along
They say that we must kill, so we can be free
By the time they get caught, it will be history

What have we done in this modern age?
We're no closer to peace than we were yesterday
What have we done in this modern age
We're no closer to peace than we were yesterday
Wars all around the globe, wherever you go
Some are killing the children - all are killing for gold
While the ones making profit are relaxing at home
Sipping vodka and talking on the telephone Take your pledge
Fill the ranks
We've got jets
We've got tanks
Our men are tough
Our men are brave
The price of truth
Is a hand granade
Put on these boots
Get in line
Get ready to commit your crime

Dancing On The Berlin Wall

They shot his eldest son at Checkpoint Charlie
Shot by a guard who was just nineteen
His neighbors whispered to themselves it was awful
But the boy was just crazy, caught up in a dream
His mother sits looking long at his picture
Sobbing to herself in her mother's grief
His younger brother took a walk to the border
Where the Western Tourists go home to be fre

A strip of grass
Was what they called their home
They could not pass
To the promised land beyond

He walked alone to Checkpoint Charlie
Right past a guard who was just nineteen
He joined the sea of people drifting west
To the Promised Land, To the American Dream They shot his eldest son at Checkpoint Charlie
Shot by a guard who was just nineteen
A couple days after they opened the border
The guard had defected to follow his dream
He got a job in a Stuttgardt suburb
Got a room in a house on a brand new street
He's got a meddle that he keeps in his closet
It comes out to haunt him at night when he sleeps

Pandora's Box

Our ancestors sat around weatching the radio
Night after night and wondering wouldn't it be nice
If we could se Milton Berle and Jack Benny
When they came on the air tonight

So corporate America, having won the war
Sent it's surplus scientists to the drawing boards
Racing to the patent office, banging at the door
And the Cathode Ray Tube was born

     Hooray for Television
It's wonderful; better then the kitchen sink
Come up close and take a look
That smudge on the screen is Milton Berle
     (I think)
Have we opened up Pandora's Box?

Soon every home had this little square set
That cast an eriee blue glow into the living room
And the family sat around with their eyes and ears glued
To the picture on the box where people talked and moved
So Corporate America having sold their sets
Put it's mind together to see what it could net
With It's marketing directors and it's advertising reps
Churning out commercials, to tell you what to get

     Hooray for Television
It's wonderful, keep your eyes on the screen
Sit there and don't fall asleep
You might just catch a glimpse of the American Dream

The TV became the alter where the people lived and prayed
You could watch it right from birth until your final dying day
If you didn't go to work you could sit there every day
Society had found a way to make us all behave
Some say that we were hypnotized, some say that we were caught
We welcomed mass stupidity and this is what we got
We never had to think and we never had to talk
Turned right into zombies by the garbage that we bought

     Hooray for television
It's wonderful, never gonna turn it off
Big Brother found a way to keep an eye on us
Without the television we'd be totally lost

Think I'll Just Stay At Home

A ferry in the Baltic steaming westward through the night, gets in trouble with the weather, her seals no longer tight; and she's gone in only minutes as she's sucked beneath the waves, simply swallowed by the darkness; seven hundred lost, committed to their graves.

I think I'll just stay at home

Over western Pennsylvania, with the farmlands far below, a Boeing gets in trouble on her final home approach; and she drops out of the heavens with an engine trailing smoke, and for forty-seven seconds people scream in terror, then explode.

I think I'll just stay at home

A busy day in Tel Aviv, commuters on a bus sit and read their papers unaware their time is finally up, as a third world martyr acting out his version of God's will, incinerates himself convinced that Allah gets the credit for the kill.

I think I'll just stay at home...

Coffeeshop

Sitting In A Coffeeshop in Amsterdam I'll drink a cup
And roll one up to wake me up
Before I Catch my plane

More

More Horsepower
I need a car that goes faster
More horsepower
I need a car that goes faster
More horsepower
I'm on my way to being late
More horsepower
I don't know how long she will wait

More money
I need to buy my love some flowers
More money
I need to buy my love some flowers
More money
Now that I'm late by several hours
More money
I need to buy my love some flowers More music
I need a song to give my baby
New music
Will put a smile on her face
More music
I need a song to give my baby
New music
Will keep her coming to this place

I need some more of everything I have now...

Too Many People
(Lyrics by Jan Goldstein & John Kneeland)

Too many people and not enough trees
Too many, to hard, to please
Too many people and not enough drink
Too many, to loud, to think
Too many people jammed in this place
Gonna move away to outer space
Too many people and not enough room
Too full, too fast, too soon

Too many people and not enough air
Too fine, to good to spare
Too many people and to much haste
Too short, to good to waste
Too many people in the line
Gonna state my views, put up a sign
Too many people and not enough roads
Too fulll, to packed to go Too many people and not enough food
Too many starving without a clue
Too many people and not enough time
Too crazy and to much crime
Too many people in my town
Many more everytime I turn around
Tolo many people in my street
Don't want to fight over inches and feet

Republicans

The Republicans stole my paycheck
Week after week
Busted my ass; it was all in vain
Left me on the street
My father, he came to this promised land
Passed it on to me
We bailed out the crooks when the whip came down
The American charity

Now I'm forced to the point of desperate realization
I've bought a rifle and a ticket and I'm going to bail out the nation

The Rebublicans took my job away
Sent it overseas
Standing in the line with my hand held out
It was all so clear to me
An honest day's work for a decent wage
Is the price of being free
We gave it all away in the name of trade
The American tragedy

Now I'm forced to the point of desperate realization
I've bought a rifle and a ticket and I'm going to bail out the nation
I'm gonna get on a bus and go down south
And take a pot shot at the Big White House
And it won't be so bad if my aim is true
It might just be the thing that will see us through

The Republicans took my house away
Gave it to the bank
You know that we won the Cold War
Well, I was wounded just the same
It's true we made it throught the Reagen years
But let's take a look at the cost
We all get to dream the same nightmare
'Cause the American Dream is lost

Now, I'm forced to the point of desperate realization...

Oh Lord!

Oh Lord, won't you kill my neighbor  (G/D/G)
I'm tired of living next to this jerk  (G/D)
His kid is such a brat   (C)
And his wife is so damn fat(G)
I'd be happy if my prayers would only work  (G/D/G)

I've been going to your church  (D)
Every Sunday like I should   (C/G)
I've got a black velvet painting of Jesus  (D/G)
     I would persecute a Jew  (D)
If you ever asked me to  (C/G)
It's about time that you gave me what I needed  (Em/D)

Oh Lord, won't you kill my Mother
I'm waiting for that big inheritance
I don't mind her around
But she's worth more in the ground
And I know you'll treat her decent up in Heaven

I've been reading from your book
     Every Sunday like I should
     Don't understand much
But I guess it doesn't matter
I would kill a Moslem dead
If you put it in my head
I'd even kill a Hindu, if you'd rather

Sent my kids to Sunday school
Like I know you want me to
Donate canned goods to the church each Christmas season
     I'm righteous and devout
So come on Lord help me out
Just this once and then we'll call it even

Oh Lord, won't you cheat on my taxes
I've got a problem with the I.R.S.
It would not be my fault, If you turned them into salt
So come on Lord get me out of this mess
So come on Lord
Get me out of this mess

Cross That Bridge

We’ll cross that bridge, when we come to it  (Em/D)

I know you said out time together would be coming to an end  (Em/D/Em)
You ask me to prolong it but you think that I should beg  (Em/D/Em)
Now Monday morning's coming, and you must catch your plane  (G/D/Em)
We've only got this weekend left before you fly away  (Em/D/Em)

     And we'll cross that bridge
     When we come to it
     Yeah we'll cross that bridge
     When we come to it

Don't make me make no choices now, I haven't time to think
The only choice I'd like to make is what I'd like to drink
Your ultimatum cuts me deep like a surgeon making an inciscion
Allow me now the luxury of living with my indecision

     And we'll cross that bridge...

Why can't we just enjoy  (C)
The time that's left between us? (D)
Why complicate our lives? (C)
No choices that we'd make now  (D/Bm)
Could redeem us (Em)

     So we'll cross that bridge...

The Ain't Gonna Song

Ain't gonna pick up my room
Ain't gonna comb my hair no more
Ain't gonna mow the lawn
Ain't gonna cheer when we go to war
Ain't gonna pay my rent
Ain't gonna file my income tax
Ain't gonna license my dog
Ain't gonna stop at the railroad tracks
Ain't gonna go to school
Ain't gonna pray in no stupid church
Ain't gonna open my mail
Ain't gonna eat all my veggies first
Ain't gonna use no bank
Ain't gonna watch the morning news
Ain't gonna celebrate Christmas
Ain't gonna wear no high-tech shoes
Ain't gonna take out the trash
Ain't gonna make it to work on time
Ain't gonna watch what I eat
Ain't gonna wait 'til I reach my prime
Ain't gonna answer the phone
Ain't gonna signel when I switch lanes
Ain't gonna get out of bed
Ain't gonna worry about The Rain
Ain't gonna play my guitar
Ain't gonna lift the toilet seat
Ain't gonna turn out the lights
Ain't gonna bother to change my sheets
Ain't gonna tell the truth
Ain't gonna listen to no more lies
Ain't gonna wear a suit
Ain't gonna wear no stupid ties

Pig Song

She snorts like a pig, but she porks like a woman  (G/Em)
She snorts like a pig, but she porks like a woman  (G/Em)
She's dancin' with the Hog like she knows just what she's doin'   (C/Am)
I keep her in her pen until it's time to do some screwing'   (G/Em)
She don't roll in the mud (D)
And she don't shit on the floor (C)
But I bring home the bacon 'cause she always wants some more  (G/Em)

She squeals like a pig, but she feels like a woman
She squeals like a pig, but she feels just like a woman
Her ears are like silk, and her tail is there for pullin'
She's the queen of the barnyard - you know that I ain't foolin'
She's got a piggy little nose
And a piggy little brain
And she may not be Kosher, but I eat her just the same

Cop On The Beat

Cop on the beat  (Dm/Am/Dm/F)
Who will he meet
His temper is short; he's been on his feet
They give him a gun
To make him feel bolder
Now he's prowling around with a chip on his shoulder

Protect and serve, are only words  (G)
Fetch a pail of water  (D)
Have a drink to calm your nerves  (G)
Don't let him near your daughter! (A)

Cop in the street
Who will he beat
His nightstick is there to break in your teeth
They give him a badge
And a shirt with a crease
But you know he never really was a man of peace

Protect and serve, are only words...

Cop with a gun
Looking for fun
He beat up his wife and he beat up his son
They give him a rank
And a book with the rules
But prejudice and violence are his only tool

Protect and serve, are only words...

Progress

The rainforest isn't here anymore  (D/C/D)
The rainforest isn't here anymore  (D/C/D)
Trees fall down all around me  (G/F/G)
I can't sleep in this place no more  (G/F/G)
The ground below turns to concrete  (G/F/G)
Scrape my feet on this man made floor (G/F/G)

(D/C…Am/C/..D/C)

The ocean isn't clean anymore
The ocean isn't clean anymore
I can't swim in the ocean
The water here it hurts my eyes
They say this water is clean now
I'm here to tell you they tell us lies

D/C…Am/C/…D/C)
They say this is progress
But we leave this planet a mess
Progress
We use the air
Poison the wind
We arysol the ozone thin
Nature loses, Progress wins
Progress

Dear Bartender

Dear Bartender  (A/D/A/D…)
I'm ready for another beer
And while I have your attention
Bring the rest of that bottle over here
That couple sitting over in the corner  (E)
Set them up with another round   (D)
I got lucky at the track, with a three-legged dog  (A/D/A/D)
I might as well spread it around  (E)

There were ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall (D/E)
I drank ninety-eight and I gave one to Paul  (A/D)
And twenty-one shots make a full gun salute  (A/E)
     No reason to stop  (D)
     Give me number twenty-two  (A/D/A/D…)

Dear bartender
I'm wondering just how you are
I'd really like to buy you a drink
But you're on the wrong side of the bar
But while I have your attention
How 'bout another drink for my friend
I got lucky playing cards
When I drew all the hearts
No reason for this party to end

There were ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall...

Dear Bartender
Is it possible to have just one more?
I do believe I've reached my limit
But that never stopped me before
And while we're on the subject
Let's buy a drink for everyone
Well my numbers came in
And I played them last night
I might as well spend what I won
