JAMES NORMAN HALL (1887-1951) American author best know for the nove; Mutany On The Bounty (co-written with Charles Nordhoff. Originally from Colfax, Iowa Hall enlisted in the British Army in 1914 and served in the Royal Fusiliers as a machine gunner during the Battle Of Loos. Upon being discharged in 1915 he returned to the United States and wrote his first book, Kitchner's Mob, about his experiences. Hall later returned to Europe as a freelance journalist and while working on a story about the Lafayette Escadrille got caught up in the adventure and enlisted in the French Aviation Service. Upon America's entry into the war, Hall was commissioned a Captain and served in the 94th US Aero Squadron until he was eventually shot down and made a prisoner of war.
