Brig. Gen. Billy Mitchell (1879-1936) The son of an
American Senator, Mitchell served first as a private in the
Spanish-American war. After gaining his commission he embarked on
a long military career that would see him serve in the newly formed U.S.
Air Service as a Brigadier General. Following the war, Mitchell
pursued a controversial course of advocating for airpower and was
eventually court marshalled. |
