Double Eagle - America's most beloved coin
The Double Eagle $20.00 coin has a long, storied past as the United States most historical coins. The prized gold coin was first produced in year 1849 and additionally credits a lot of its successfulness to the California gold rush that had their inception around 1848.
The detection of gold in California generated this type of increase of gold into the economy in which the U . S . Mint in Philadelphia chose to generate gold coins in larger denominations. In 1849 the US allowed the creation of twenty dollar gold coins. The new coins are 90% pure gold coins, made up of 0.9675 oz . of gold, and additionally have been specially designed by Chief Engraver, James Barton Longacre.
